Adolescents
A Safe Space
I find that my work with adolescents is centered on offering a place of stillness and safety where they can feel less alone in this fast-paced world and learn the foundational tool of identifying their feelings.
When I work with adolescents, I strive to dismantle any hierarchy that may exist when it comes to me being an “adult” and them being “just a kid”. I also strive to involve parents/caregivers but do so by working together with and empowering the adolescent.
Learning How To Suffer
Suffering is not a bad word in my book. It is a part of our nature, just like the rain, but that does not mean it is an easy experience to move through. I offer adolescents my presence, regulated nervous system, and loving boundaries so that they may find safety within our relationship to allow all feelings to exist, including the difficult ones. I am committed to meeting young people where they are at and helping them learn to be resilient and to suffer well.
